Fancy Alonissos, in the Sporades Islands, Greece?
Alonissos is the least developed of the Sporades Islands, in the north Aegean sea. The island is surrounded by a marine park, principally for the protection of the monk seal, and so has some of the cleanest water in the Mediterranean. There are many beaches and a network of signposted paths for the dedicated walker and naturalist.
Alonissos is unsophisticated, uncomplicated, rural Greece, with mainly local, peasant dishes in the tavernas.
There are no golf courses, or public tennis courts, but the museum is of a very high standard, and the 2-3 discos and night clubs are fully sound-proofed. The locals are helpful, and almost any body who is in contact with the public speaks English.
There is a sizeable expat population of Germans, English, with some Dutch, French, and other nationals.
So if you fancy a peaceful, low key holiday, why not give it a try?
