Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic
This is a very busy town, situated on the Northern coast of the Dominican Republic. It is a port for cargo ships, which is the main source of income for local people. However, there are some lovely attractions close by.
Take a bus or taxi to the nearest attraction, the cable car that takes about 20 minutes to reach the top of the highest mountains in the Dominican Republic. When you get to the top, it is covered in tropical gardens and a restaurant, with views over the coast and surrounding areas.
There is also a sealife centre where you can swim with dolphins, sea lions and take diving lessons if you like – a great family day out.
Why not try the quad biking through cornfields and on the beach which is really good fun.
The beaches are perfect, white sand with overhanging palm trees in places - providing just the right amount of shade because it’s extremely hot!
